Dr. Carla Mack, one of our founders, was raised by a hardworking single mother. Like many families, they had to make tough financial decisions. One of the most heartbreaking was when their beloved dog, Dusty (pictured below with Dr. Mack), became sick. Unable to afford the continuing care Dusty needed, they had to make the painful choice to say goodbye too soon. That moment never left Dr. Mack’s heart.
Driven by that memory, Dr. Mack pursued her veterinary degree at Colorado State University. Over her 13-year career in veterinary medicine, she witnessed countless families face the same heartbreaking decision she once did. Pet parents would come in with love and hope in their eyes, only to leave in tears—not because there was no medical solution, but because the price tag was out of reach.
That’s why, when Dr. Mack met Dr. Kapp, something clicked. They shared a common goal: to offer low-cost surgery and low-cost dentistry for pets in the Denver area. Together, they built a practice around compassion, accessibility, and the belief that no pet should suffer or be lost simply because care is unaffordable.
